Prof. Dr. Sudhir Gavhane

Prof. Dr. Sudhir Wamanrao Gavhane is one of India's most distinguished academicians, higher education leaders, and media education experts, with more than four decades of experience in teaching, research, university administration, and academic quality assurance. A two-time Vice-Chancellor, he has played a transformative role in advancing higher education through academic excellence, institutional innovation, and governance. Beginning his journey from a modest rural background in Maharashtra, Dr. Gavhane's inspiring "earn and learn" path exemplifies his lifelong commitment to education, leadership, and social transformation.
Dr. Gavhane has served as the Founding Vice-Chancellor of MGM University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Vice-Chancellor of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik. He has also held key leadership positions as Dean at MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune, and Professor and Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU). A nationally respected NAAC Peer Team Chairman and Assessor, he has evaluated more than 80 higher education institutions across India, mentored numerous doctoral scholars, and championed sustainable campus development, including transforming 200 acres of barren land into a thriving green ecosystem.
